Welcome to my WordPress playground

My attempt to create the fastest possible WP website on a 5 $ droplet

I came about this idea, while i was reading an article on “How i made My WordPress Site 1311% Faster with Cloudways and WPMU DEV Plugins” , which did not succeed and i was´nt willing to pay 50$ per month for a SaaS solution plus the hosting for a company who just act as a broker for AWS, google and vultr.

After i did some  research and tried many caching plugin like W3 Total cache, WP super cache, WP faster cache, to name a few,  i came about an interesting solution called easyengine.io , which use Redis caching. Redis is an open source (BSD licensed), in-memory data structure store, used as database, cache and message broker.

So here is the recipe:

    1. Sign up at Digitalocean and create a small 512 MB Memory / 20 GB Disk /  Ubuntu 16.04.1 x64 droplet.

    2. wget -qO ee rt.cx/ee && sudo bash ee
      ee site create macbroadcast.org --wpredis
      ee site update macbroadcast.org --letsencrypt
    3. Plugins used: Above The Fold Optimization , Async JavaScript, Remove query strings from static resources

    4. Futhermore the use of Cloudflare for minification and the Rocket loader feature.

    5. Secured the wp-login.php location = /wp-login.php {
      include common/acl.conf;
      limit_req zone=one burst=1 nodelay;
      include fastcgi_params;
      fastcgi_pass php;

      inside of common/wpcommon.conf
    6. Check pagespeed 😉

    7. Next step will  be migrating the WordPress content and MySQL database
